Esustainability and the Preservation of The Natural Ecosystems

ABOUT US
EMLIis a development and humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization established inCameroon in 2018.
Motivated by the urgent need to support vulnerable and underserved communities in Cameroon and across Africa, Luma Fritz Likanjo and a team of passionate change makers founded the Environmental Management and Livelihood Initiative (EMLI) in 2018. From the beginning, EMLI has focused on empowering marginalized groups—widows, orphans, displaced families, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable youth—through innovative programs that strengthen both livelihoods and environmental resilience.
Today, while EMLI remains a trusted partner in responding to humanitarian needs, its work extends beyond relief efforts to building lasting community resilience. Through sustainable agriculture, access to clean water and sanitation, economic empowerment, and environmental stewardship, EMLI supports communities to thrive, not just survive.
EMLI’s vision is a world where every individual, no matter their background, lives with dignity, security, and opportunity, in a sustainable environment nurtured for future generations.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to foster environmental sustainability and the preservation of natural ecosystems, while simultaneously promoting the socio-economic empowerment of marginalized and disadvantaged groups, especially children, women, and youth. Through innovative programs and strategic partnerships, we strive to build resilient communities that thrive in harmony with nature.
OUR VISION
We envision a world where every individual is environmentally conscious, actively safeguards the rights of others, celebrates the richness of nature, and enjoys access to the basic services necessary for a dignified and improved quality of life..

Our Partnership Approach
A partnership approach to humanitarian aid and development
EMLI believes in the power of partnerships. We understand that tackling the challenges of poverty, crisis and social injustice is complex and can only be achieved by working with others towards shared objectives. Aligning approaches, resources and expertise, our collective impact is greater and more effective than anything we could achieve on our own.
Partnership and collaboration
EMLI works with a wide variety of partners to achieve its humanitarian and development objectives. We have long-standing partnerships with institutional funders, including the Governments of Cameroon, the UK and USA, as well as the European Union and United Nations. We also prioritise the strengthening of civil society.
EMLI is committed to building networks of relationships with Governments, iNGOs and private sector partners to empower local organisations and community groups on the ground. Together we can build greater resilience and more robust solutions to regular shocks and crises, as well as supporting the longer-term development of vulnerable communities.
